Ignatian Exercises

The Ignatian Exercises

A 9–12 month journey toward deeper intimacy with Jesus, freedom, and discernment.

There are seasons when we sense God inviting us into something deeper.

Maybe you long for a deeper relationship with Jesus. Maybe your prayer life has become stale or routine. Maybe you're facing an important decision and want to become more attentive to God's voice. Or perhaps you simply sense that there is more to faith than what you've experienced so far.

The Ignatian Exercises offer a way to enter into that deeper journey.

A Retreat in Daily Life

The Spiritual Exercises were developed nearly 500 years ago by St. Ignatius of Loyola as a way of helping people grow in their relationship with God, become more free, and learn to discern God's movement in their lives.

Rather than stepping away from ordinary life for an extended retreat, the Exercises can be experienced as a retreat in daily life, unfolding over approximately 9–12 months.

Throughout the journey, you'll receive prayer material for each day and spend about an hour in prayer and reflection. You'll gradually move through the story of your own life and the story of Jesus, beginning with God's love for us, exploring our brokenness and need for grace, entering more deeply into the life and ministry of Jesus, and eventually journeying with Him through His death and resurrection.

Along the way, you'll learn to pay attention to what is happening within you and to recognize the movements that draw you toward greater love, freedom, and life with God.

I'll meet with you each week to listen, guide, and accompany you through the process.

A Significant Commitment

The Exercises are not a course or something to simply add to an already-full spiritual life. They require a meaningful commitment of time and attention.

For 9–12 months, you'll be setting aside approximately an hour each day for prayer, along with our weekly meetings. During this season, the Exercises would become the primary focus of your spiritual direction and formation.

It's a significant investment. But for those who are ready to enter into it, the Exercises can be a deeply transformative journey of growing in love for Jesus, becoming more free, and learning to discern how God is inviting you to live.
